Plan Your Stay – Make the Most of Your Time in Quito
Welcome to Casa San Juan!
Quito is a city full of character, altitude, history, and contrast. A little preparation makes a big difference — and we’re here to help you feel confident before you arrive.
1. Before You Arrive
What to Pack
☁️ Weather is unpredictable — sun, rain, and cool evenings can all happen in one day.
🧥 Pack layers. Mornings are cool, afternoons warm, evenings cold.
🧴 Sunscreen & lip balm are essential — the altitude makes the sun stronger.
💊 Bring any medications you need.
🔌 Ecuador uses US outlets (same as the United States).
Airport Transfer
Need a ride from the airport? We offer private airport transfers for a smooth arrival.
📱 Private transfer for up to 4 people: Starting at $30
📱 Private transfer for up to 8 people: Starting at $60
Rates vary depending on arrival time (early morning/late night may be higher). We recommend coordinating with us as far in advance as possible.
To arrange your transfer, simply send us: your flight number, airline, and arrival time—we’ll arrange everything.
If you prefer Uber, it works well during daytime hours. We recommend checking with us first to confirm the best option for your arrival time.
2. Getting Here
From the Airport to Casa San Juan
If you booked a transfer with us, your driver will be waiting at arrivals with a sign and will take you directly to the house.
If you’re taking Uber, request it from the official airport rideshare area. Travel time is approximately 45–60 minutes depending on traffic. Address: Cuenca N12-38 y Guatemala, Quito.
If taking a taxi, use only official airport taxis and confirm the meter (taxímetro) is running or agree on a price beforehand (recommended).
Check-In
Check-in time: 3:00 PM
Check-out time: 11:00 AM
If you need early arrival or late departure, let us know — we’ll accommodate whenever possible.
We always meet you personally. Either Jennifer or Ricardo will welcome you, show you around, explain how everything works, give you the keys, and answer any questions.
Parking is available for one vehicle. Please let us know in advance if you need it.
When You Arrive
Once you’re settled:
📶 The WiFi network name and password will be provided during check-in.
☕ Coffee and tea are always available in the kitchen — please help yourself anytime.
🥐 You’ll also find snacks ready for you. Feel free to enjoy them.
💧 Take a moment to hydrate, rest, and adjust to the altitude.
3. During Your Stay
What to Expect
Quito is a real neighborhood, not a resort.
Mornings can be lively — roosters, vendors, dogs, and city sounds beginning around 6–7 AM. If you’re a light sleeper, pack earplugs.
The walk back from the Historic Center is uphill. Quito sits at 2,880 meters (9,350 ft). Walking down is easy. Walking back up? You’ll feel it. Bring water, take your time, or grab an Uber.
Altitude affects everyone differently. Rest, hydrate, and move slowly your first day.
You’ll also experience:
🌄 Beautiful panoramic views
🏡 Space to breathe
☕ Quiet mornings with coffee and light
WiFi & Amenities
📶 High-speed WiFi throughout the house
📺 TV with Netflix and HBO Max
☕ Fully equipped kitchen (coffee maker, fridge, stove, microwave)
🩹 Basic first-aid kit available in the house
🚗 Parking available (1 vehicle)
🧺 There is currently no washer or dryer inside the house.
For most short stays, guests find this unnecessary — however, if you need laundry service, we can recommend reliable local options, including convenient pick-up and delivery.
If you need anything specific, just let us know — we’re always happy to help.
Staying Connected & Safety
If anything happens during your stay — even something small — please contact us immediately.
Being in a new country can feel overwhelming in an emergency, especially if you don’t speak the language. You are not alone here.
Whether it’s a medical situation, an accident, a lost item, or simply not knowing what to do next — reach out to us right away. We would much rather help early than have you try to solve something stressful on your own.

If you’d like a deeper cultural experience, we can connect you with knowledgeable local guides who reveal hidden courtyards, museum stories, and lesser-known details of Quito.
5. House Rules & Caring for the Space
We know it may be sounds like a lot, but it’s really just about taking care of the space the way you’d care for your own home. Thank you for understanding.
We want you to feel at home — and we also want to keep the space in excellent condition for all guests. Here are a few important things:
🕐 Quiet hours: 10 PM – 7 AM (we’re in a real neighborhood—please be respectful)
👥 Maximum capacity: 8 guests
🧹 Keep common areas tidy (this is a shared home, not a hotel)
In the Bathrooms
🧹 Use the cleaning supplies provided – Bath towels are for personal use only — not for cleaning floors. Floor mats and cleaning cloths are under the sink.
Water & Electricity
💧 Turn off faucets completely and turn off lights when you leave a room. Small habits make a big difference.
Smoking
🚬 Casa San Juan is a smoke-free space. Smoking is not allowed inside the house or on the terrace to keep the space fresh and comfortable for all guests.
Trash Collection — IMPORTANT
🗑️ Follow the posted schedule carefully. Trash must go out at specific scheduled times. If disposed of incorrectly, the building may be fined. We will show you the schedule at check-in.
Cleaning Supplies
🧹 Cleaning products, mop, broom, and cloths are available in the house.
If you need anything specific, just ask — we’re happy to show you where everything is.
These supplies are provided so you don’t need to use bath towels or linens for cleaning purposes.
Towels & Linens
We prepare fresh, properly washed and disinfected towels for every guest. Each person receives two clean towels at check-in (one bath towel and one smaller towel), neatly folded and ready for use.
You’re welcome to use them with complete confidence.
To help us maintain hygiene standards and avoid unnecessary waste, we kindly ask the following:
If a towel remains completely unused, please leave it folded on the rack.
Towels that have been used should be left hanging (if still wet) or placed in the bathroom basket.
This allows us to clearly identify which towels were used and which remained clean, ensuring proper sanitation for the next guest.
Towels are for personal hygiene only (showering and drying hands/face).
They should not be used for:
- Cleaning floors
- Wiping shoes or luggage
- Removing makeup or hair dye
- Cleaning spills or surfaces
Cleaning cloths and appropriate supplies are available for those purposes.
Heavy staining, misuse, or damage requiring special cleaning or replacement may result in an additional charge.
We truly appreciate your care. Proper use of linens helps us maintain a clean, hygienic, and sustainable environment for everyone.
