About Us – The Story of Casa San Juan

Casa San Juan stands on land that has been in my family since the 1960s.

What began as a large property with my grandparents’ original home was later divided among their children. Decades ago, my father built the house that today welcomes guests — solid, spacious, and designed to last.

He built it well.

Over the years, Quito has experienced tremors and nearby earthquakes. The house has remained strong — without cracks, without structural damage. That quiet resilience is something I’m deeply proud of.

For my family, San Juan was always more than an address. It was where we gathered. Where afternoons meant coffee with milk and fresh bread. Where the garden felt endless and childhood felt safe.

In 2008, after my father passed away, the house became my responsibility to care for and preserve. He always wanted it to remain in the family — and keeping it alive has been my way of honoring that wish.

Years later, instead of selling it, I chose to open it to travelers.

Not to turn it into an investment property —
but to keep it alive.

For over ten years now, families and groups from around the world have walked through these doors. The structure remains the same. The purpose evolved.

When you stay here, you’re not stepping into a commercial property. You’re entering a home that has been cared for, strengthened, and intentionally preserved.

Casa San Juan is still what it has always been:
A house built with intention.
A place of warmth.
A home meant to be shared.

Meet your host

Hi, I’m Jennifer !!

I genuinely love welcoming people to Quito.

For over a decade, I’ve hosted families and groups from around the world — not just providing a place to stay, but helping them feel oriented, supported, and at ease in a city that may be completely new to them.

If you need restaurant recommendations, help planning a birthday dinner, advice on how to move around safely, or simply reassurance about something that feels unfamiliar — I’m here.

Quiteños are naturally hospitable. We greet people. We look out for one another. And I try to extend that same warmth to every guest who walks through the door.

Past guests have described their stay as feeling “like locals instead of tourists.” Others have called it the best hosting experience they’ve had across multiple countries.

I don’t take that lightly.

When you stay at Casa San Juan, you’re not navigating Quito alone.
